2023 Health Alert: Before you and your party explore the whitewater adventure that awaits you, please read these pages prior to beginning your trip.
Geo Tours Whitewater Raft Trips (Geo Tours) has taken reasonable measures to avoid or minimize contact, transmittal or contamination of the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus or “virus’). The environment of the activities that will take place, however, will require interaction with others. When human beings are interacting, naturally occurring disease processes may take place and a virus may be transmitted.
By agreeing and choosing to participate in these activities, Geo Tours cannot and will not have any legal liability if the participant contracts the virus. Ultimately, it is everyone’s responsibility to follow safe practices and distancing whenever possible.
Geo Tours expects all participants to Self Screen and if they have symptoms of, or have been diagnosed with the virus, NOT PARTICIPATE in our activities. Geo Tours will not be responsible to participants who contract the virus under any circumstance. Participants fully assume all risks of contracting the virus by participating in the activity
Additional Covid Safety Information
Modified from the National Park Service 2022 Guidelines for backcountry trips:
*These procedures are self (and/or group) safety practices that should be done as you proceed throughout the entire process.*
Please review each step carefully, thank you.
It is recommended that people at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 SHOULD NOT GO on backcountry trips. High risk individuals include, but are not limited to, people with the following conditions:
-Over 65 years of age,
-Chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma,
-Diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or undergoing dialysis,
Other immunocompromised individuals (HIV, undergoing cancer treatment, or other underlying medical conditions)
Guests determined to be at higher risk should be advised that it is strongly recommended that they do not go on the trip.
3-4 days before arrival, every guest should screen themselves by completing the self-questionnaire as follows:
1) Have you recently experienced any of the following symptoms?
Fever (100.4°F/38°C or higher) or chills?
Cough that you cannot attribute to another health condition?
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing that you cannot attribute to another health condition?
Sore throat that you cannot attribute to another health condition?
Muscle aches that you cannot attribute to another health condition, or that may have been caused by a specific activity (such as physical exercise)
Loss of taste or smell?
2) Have you been in contact with an individual who has been ill with flu-like symptoms in the last 14 days?
3) Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 30 days? If yes, were you notified that you were no longer contagious with COVID-19?
4) Have you been tested for COVID-19? If yes, when was the test and what were the results?
5) Have you been tested for COVID-19 antibodies? If yes, what were the results?
If a guest answers “yes” to questions 1-3, they should consider postponing the tour. The decision to allow a formerly sick guest on a tour may be based on: At least 3 days (72 hours) since fever has gone (without the use of fever-reducing medications) AND improvement in respiratory symptoms AND at least 7 days have passed since symptoms appeared.
All guests should complete the self-questionnaire. If a guest does not complete the self-questionnaire, they may not be allowed on the tour. The questionnaire is voluntary but each participant or, in the case of minors, their legal guardian is assuming responsibility for themselves and practicing “Safe Practices”.
Guests should be asked if anything has changed since completing the self-questionnaire. If they have a temperature of 100.4°F/38°C or higher, they and their immediate traveling party may not be allowed on the tour.
