Guide Training Course

Geo Tours is currently looking for veteran raft guides and newcomers of all experience levels for full and part time raft guide positions this coming raft season. We have been in business under the same owner for over 40 years on the Front Range, have top of the line equipment and operate on three different rivers in Colorado. Geo offers raft trips that range from part day up to five day trips. Guides with qualifying experience get the the opportunity to raft on 6+ different sections on three different rivers (Arkansas, Clear Creek & Upper Colorado). Geo Tours offers competitive pay rates and a great working environment. Our headquarters is in Morrison, Colorado just outside of Denver at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.
For those thinking it might be fun to learn how to get yourself and a group of guests down a river on a rubber raft, with two pounds of air in it and some sticks (oars and/or paddles) in your hands, well, our raft guide training course begins on May 22nd, 2023. The course will run daily for approximately two weeks and will incorporate time off for Memorial Day.
Completion of this course will meet and exceed the Colorado requirements for a Commercial Raft Guide. The following topics are covered:
- Rigging & Required Equipment
- Rapids & Their Causes
- Crisis Management & River Rescue
- Maneuvering Rafts & River Hazards
- Scouting & Running Rapids
- Minimizing Resource Impacts (Leave No Trace)
- Commercial Driving Responsibilities
- Minimum 50 hrs. on river training including: Clear Creek, Upper Colorado River and Arkansas River
Cost: $450.00/participant
Includes: Equipment, instruction, wetsuits rental, and most transportation. 50% deposit by April 30th to reserve spot. Maximum attendance is 6 people. Instructor to trainee ratio approximately 6:1, minimum age 18, prefer 21 and over. CPR and First Aid required (available at an additional charge) with good driving record.
